i struggled with this question before i got baptised.
what helped you to overcome any doubts?.
SFPW,
"Let's say every day on your commute to work you notice a well dressed man waiting for the bus at the bus stop. You don't pay him that much attention. However, one day your car wont start and being that you're in a hurry, you decide to catch the bus. The same bus you see the well dressed man waiting for. You approach him and ask if the arrival of the bus is imminent? He replies "it should be here soon, possibly in ten minutes but who knows. It could be longer." You wait 10 minutes, and growing impatient, you decide to call your boss and inform him that you're going to use a sick day in effect calling off."
I'd like to understand your illustration better. Does the "well-dressed man" represent the Governng Body, or is it simply a "red herring"? I would not think it a proper parallel for the "well-dressed man" that regularly utilizes the same bus stop to represent the Governing Body predicting the end. The end has not come yet. In contrast, the bus has been at the stop before. In fact, it frequents the bus stop on a repetitive schedule, yielding reliable predictability.
Matt: 24:36,37: "Concerning that day and hour+ nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son,* but only the Father.+ 37 For just as the days of Noah+ were, so the presence* of the Son of man will be."

SFPW,
Are you counting your time while you are "preaching" to us on this website?
could someone please advise how to update our profile picture?
thank you..
Are there any other sites besides gravatar.com that can facilitate this change?
did you ever volunteer/visit bethel back when you were in the borg?
at the time, it opended my eyes as i saw a lot of red flags.
for instance, volunteers were kept so busy without reasonable accomodations that everyone became in a robotic-zombie state of compliance with an unreasonably strict fast pased schedule.
L3G,
Yes. The pace at Bethel is rather maniacal indeed. That's interesting how the brother staying at your home maintained the same "bethel" pace. When I was there, I viewed the Bethel lifestyle as an institutionalized one. Everybody doing mostly everything at the same time (morning worship, eating, working hours, etc), and doing so at a rushed pace.
i just thought i'd share this; my mom has dinner with her jw friend on tuesdays and apparently the jw wasn't in a very good mood today... the reason for this as she told my mom is because she wasn't invited to the agm.
she's been a jw for 25 years, doesn't pioneer, but is very dedicated to the cause.
she also explained to my mom that 2 other sisters one of whom is 80 yrs old and has been a jw all her life wasn't invited either.
Very Interesting St. George. Thanks for sharing. I would have to agree, it is a public relations disaster. I wonder who conducted the meeting, a sister with a head covering? Maybe a ministerial servant?
Anyone know if other countries in addition to the UK had a seperate Sunday Meeting for the non-invited? Thanks.
i didn't go to the agm nor was i invited .i didn't go to the sunday meeting either.i received a text though from a long standing ministerial servant that echoes the sentiment in my congragation at least.he was present at the meeting.no elder was there and all parts ,watchtower and public talk were handled by ministerial servants.he was incensed that he was not invited allthough he's been a servant for many years and always volunteered at the assemblies etc.
the absense of all these elders was very noticable .most of the congragation was uninformed for the "dog & ponny show" (sorry agm) and the reason i think was that they were embarrased to admit that only they were going to go.but the most upsetting thing for many is that only the ones that went to the agm got the new bible ,the rest will have to wait till january when the first supply arrives at the congragation.
also many have found out that the instruction is that the new bible has to be used from the congragation straight away at the meetings and field service .imagine the embarrasment to be sitting next to the in crowd with their new flashy bible !.
Raymond, I agree regarding the 2 classes. It reminds me how only pioneers and other "favorites" are invited to the Zone meetings. When I was in the Borg, I recall the pioneers braggging about how they were invited in front of non-pioneers who were not invited. Just another symptom of the organization not being founded on Love.... with divisions of classes.

Anybody know, Was there a regular Sunday Meeting session at the Kingdom Hall for the folks that did not receive invitiations to attend the AGM meeting?
first 30 min announcing a collection of bibles collected from r & f that is to go on display at bethel.
also accounts of how they "miraculously" received bibles that they didn't think they could get - eg.
geneva bible.. now - watchtower study review as there is no meeting tomorrow..
Thanks Fading Begins!
